The services I provide

Interpreting

The International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC) defines interpreting as the practice of conveying the meaning of a speaker's message orally and in another language to listeners who would not otherwise understand. I provide interpreting services for the following combinations: IT<>EN, IT<>SE, ES>IT.

Simutaneous Interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting is a mode of interpreting in which the speaker makes a speech and the interpreter reformulates the speech into a language his audience understands at the same time (or simultaneously). Simultaneous interpreters work in an interpreting booth and deliver their translation from a microphone through headphones.

Consecutive Interpreting

While performing a consecutive interpretation, the interpreter stands or sits besides the speaker who can speak for about 5/10 minutes. In the meanwhile, the interpreter takes notes and when the speaker stops he/she provides the translation.

Chuchotage

The French word chuchotage means “to whisper”. It is in facts a translation whispered in the ears of a small group of people.

B2B Interpreting

The b2b interpreting allows the communication among a limited number of people without the need of conference tools (booth, microphone…). It is commonly used for meetings, fairs and company visits.

Bidule

The Bidule is a system of portable radios whose microphones and receivers are simply tuned to the same frequency to ensure immediate transmission of the translation to listeners. It is the perfect solution for less formal contexts where it is also necessary to move, for example during tours or workshops.

Translation

The translation is the written transposition of a text from one language to another. I have experience with CAT tools and I provide translation services for the following combinations: IT<>EN; IT<>SE; ES>IT.

My name is Ellen Bartumioli, I am a freelance interpreter and translator. I perform simultaneous, consecutive and b2b interpreting, chuchotage and technical translations. I have always been fascinated by languages since I was a kid. Soon I realised the advantages I could enjoy by using other idioms and approaching other cultures.

Later in the years this passion of mine has become my work tool, so after a classic studies oriented Baccalaureate, I obtained a Master’s Degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Florence.
